The Civil Engineering Excellence Award is a WCCE initiative to provide recognition to the members of the civil engineering profession. The Awardee is a civil engineer as defined by the WCCE member society of the nation in which he or she resides.ย The awardee will be chosen based on his or her noteworthy contributions to the practice, theory, or public status of civil engineering.
During WCCE's General Assembly in Monterrey, the Civil Engineering Excellence Award Ceremony will be held in Monterrey, Mexico on November 22nd 2012. The first presentation of the World Council of Civil Engineering (WCCE) Award was made in 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during our 5th General Assembly of WCCE. From then onwards, the Medal is to be presented biennially hereafter, helping direct world attention to the practice, theory and public contributions of civil engineering.

Former Awardees
William J.(Bud) Carroll
(born 1923) is a Civil Engineer, having graduated with a B. S. and an M. S. from the California Institute of Technology in 1948 and 1949. He served 3-1/2 years in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a Meteorologist during World War 2. His engineering career has been mainly with James M. Montgomery, Consulting Engineers (now called Montgomery Watson Harza- MWH) from 1951 to present. He was President and C.E.O. of the firm from 1969 to 1987, when he retired to the position of Chairman. He is now Chairman Emeritus of MWH and serves as a Consultant to the Company. His area of specialty is Environmental Engineering with emphasis on water and waste water planning and design. Besides numerous engineering design projects in the U. S. , Mr. Carroll has been involved on international projects in 16 countries and during his career has visited 90 countries Mr. Carroll has served as President of the following organizations:

Tomรกs del Carril
(born 1945) is a Civil Engineer, having graduated with a B. S. and an M. S. from the University of Buenos Aires in 1970. His engineering career has been mainly related with Structural engineering project design in several firms. He is now Engineering Associate to Fazio del Carril Ingenieros Chairman Emeritus of MWH and serves as a Consultant to the Company. Currently distinguished Professor in two of the most important universities of Argentina and author of over forty research papers presented in Symposia, Conferences and Lectures, presented all over the world, some of which are widely recognized and have received distinctive prizes. His area of specialty is Structural Engineering with emphasis on bridges. Besides numerous engineering design projects in Argentina, Mr. del Carril has been involved on international bridge projects all over Latin America. During his career Mr. del Carril has been awarded several international prizes served as President of the following organizations.
