WCCE launches its fourth edition of the Civil Engineering Excellence Awards. The first presentation of the Award was made in 2010 during our 5th General Assembly of WCCE. This fourth edition's awarding ceremony will be held during WCCE's 13th General Assembly to be held in Sucre, Bolivia on the last quarter of 2018. Candidacy submissions are open until July 15th.

A partnership agreement was signed on March 14th between the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE) and UNESCO in order strengthen their collaboration. Their common efforts will focus on the integration of sustainability in engineering curriculum and accreditation of civil engineering education, and on the promotion of engineering in sustainable development.
The agreement was signed by Mr Alfonso Alberto González Fernández, President of WCCE, and Ms Blanca Elena Jiménez-Cisneros, Executive Secretary of UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme, representing Flavia Schlegel, Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, UNESCO.

This third edition's awarding ceremony will be held during WCCE's 9th General Assembly to be held in Lisbon, Portugal on the last quarter of 2014. Candidacy submissions are open until March 30th.
The Civil Engineering Excellence Award is a WCCE initiative to provide recognition to the members of the civil engineering profession. The Awardee is a civil engineer as defined by the WCCE member society of the nation in which he or she resides. The awardee will be chosen based on his or her noteworthy contributions to the practice, theory, or public status of civil engineering.
During WCCE's General Assembly in Monterrey, the Civil Engineering Excellence Award Ceremony will be held in Monterrey, Mexico on November 22nd 2012. The first presentation of the World Council of Civil Engineering (WCCE) Award was made in 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during our 5th General Assembly of WCCE. From then onwards, the Medal is to be presented biennially hereafter, helping direct world attention to the practice, theory and public contributions of civil engineering.
During his visit to China professor Carsten Ahrens, vice-president of WCCE, met professor Yuan Si, vice-president of the China Civil Engineering Society (CCES), who obtains this position since a number of years. He will be holding this post at least till the new president has been elected, which will happen in 2012.
It was the 3rd meeting between professor Si and professor Ahrens as colleagues of their respective universities (Professor Si is actually also the vice-president of one of China’s most renowned universities, Tsinghua University, Beijing).
